Colour, its potential to excite the eye and engage the heart, is central to Suzanne’s art. Working in a range of media, often mixed, she likes to explore the emotional impact of mark making, texture and image. From mixed media abstracts and monoprints inspired by a sense of place or particular emotion to stylised still-life in pastel, her work is varied and continually evolving.
‘Circles Unbound’ is a series of work which formed part of a solo exhibition in May 2016 of the same name at The Studios Gallery, New Mills. Inspired by a visit to Kenya, the paintings explore a sense of freedom influenced by the rich red soil of the Tsavo safari plains and the vibrancy of African textiles.
Suzanne has painted and drawn since childhood. Since 1992, she has sold work widely through galleries and exhibitions in the North West.
