Christine Pike
sculptor, curator and performer
I am a sculptor, curator, and performer. I find that the edges of each practice flow into each other in a constant feedback loop of ideas and inspiration. My themes are drawn from the natural world and the folkloric heritage of the British Isles. I tell stories. Sometimes my figures disguise themselves as animals. Occasionally they are caught in the act of transformation; part human, part beast…
As a freelance curator I created two community touring projects in East Anglia funded by Arts Council England (A Husk of Hares; 2012-13 and In Grendel’s Footsteps; 2015-16), and various other exhibitions around the region, notably at the Babylon Gallery, Ely, and Greyfriars Art Space, Kings Lynn.
I work mainly in clay, cold cast bronze, and jesmonite. I teach workshops in sculpting and mould-making.
